The Maniwood (Manipur film industry) is one of the blessed industries in the country with a hoard of young talents. Every year, a larger number of Manipuri youths are plunging into the industry aspiring to be an actor. Angelicathoi Yumlembam (18), d/o (L) Arun Yumlembam and (L) Seram Nanao of Nongpok Ingkhol Pureiromba Leikai, Manipur is one such wannabe actress-cum-model, who dares to challenge the oddities of life and able to stand herself.
“Modelling is my life and the only passion that I have since childhood is modelling. Moreover, my mom was an actor of a Manipuri celluloid film. Recently I have won the face of Vbooky award from the Vbooky Saloon,” Angelica told to www.northeastmirror.com during an interview. Apart from modelling and acting she is also a professional Manipuri Classical dancer and beautician. Despite of restrictions from various quarters of the society and limitations in her life, she started her modelling career with the help of Tiken Thokchom and Robert Naorem. Deprived of parents, the career of this promising starlet is shooting up day by day. She has acted in movies like “Keithel Sendrang”, “Chow Chow Momo Na Houbara Singju Borana Oinambara”, “Sangbrei Chinghi Manam” and in albums like- “Phootktokpiro” and “Lonna – Lonna”. She refused to disclose her upcoming project, but during the interview it was informed that including “Sandrembi Pareng” some ambitious projects are at the line. “Modelling in Manipur is just grooming”, Angelica said, while assuring that soon in near future the state would be a powerhouse of fashion in the Northeastern region of the country. A model, according to her, should posses some traits- good physique, sociable and able to appreciate the changing trend. During the conversation, Angelica also reveals that works of her mother is great relics to her and a source of inspiration. It dares her to confront challenges in life.
